Helping Lost Belongings Find Their Way Home
A simple way to help someone who finds your lost keys, bag, luggage, or other belongings get them back to you.
No additional app for owners or finders. Both can use Recovery Tags through their phone’s browser. Just a quick tap or scan and a way to get in touch.
It Started With a “What If?”
One day, while browsing Facebook, I noticed several posts that sounded awfully familiar:
“Hey, I found a set of motorcycle keys at [location]. Does anybody know who they belong to? I’d love to get them back to their owner.”
And that got me thinking…
What if…
What if those keys had a simple tag attached?
What if whoever found them could just tap the tag with their phone and immediately know how to contact the owner?
No searching through Facebook posts. No hoping somebody recognizes the keys. No extra app for me or the person who finds them—just our phones’ browsers.
I also wanted to create a lost-and-found solution that wouldn’t mean another paid subscription to keep track of or a separate smartphone app to download. That was part of the idea from the start: keep getting in touch simple. Avoiding another subscription is a design goal as I explore how Recovery Tags will be offered.
Just a simple way to help lost belongings find their way home.
And that’s how Recovery Tags began.

Attach a Recovery Tag to something important.

Activate it using your phone and choose how a finder can reach you.

If someone finds the item, they can tap or scan the tag and use your chosen contact options to reach you.
No special app required—for the person who owns the tag or the person who finds it.

Not a GPS Tracker
Recovery Tags aren’t tracking devices. They don’t show an item’s live location or transmit GPS coordinates.
Instead, they make it easy for someone who finds your belongings to contact you.
They can complement a GPS or Bluetooth tracker, but they serve a different purpose.
A working project, growing thoughtfully.

Additional tag formats, availability, and improvements are being explored.
Already Have a Recovery Tag?
You can manage your tags, rename items, update your recovery information, preview recovery pages, or transfer a tag to someone else.
Manage My TagsSign in with your registered email address and a six-digit verification code sent to your email.
Changes to shared contact information may affect all tags registered to you.
Activating a new tag? Start by scanning the individual tag. Initial activation begins there, rather than in the general management portal.
